Founded in 1871, Smith College opened in 1875 with 14 students. Today, Smith is among the largest women’s colleges in the United States, with students from 48 states and 68 countries. An independent, nondenominational college, Smith remains strongly committed to the education of women at the undergraduate level, but admits both men and women as graduate students.
Whether you come to the college for a lecture, to visit the award-winning Smith College Museum of Art, take a campus tour, stop in at one of the libraries, attend a performance or simply stroll the grounds to enjoy the beauty of Smith’s botanic gardens, you’ll find a welcoming campus filled with energy and enthusiasm.
The college is easily accessible by air, car, train or bus, and you’ll find a variety of accommodations and dining options just a short distance from campus in the vibrant city of Northampton.
