Join us on Sunday October 20th as artisans and performers from local Indigenous nations come together with the Shelburne Historical Society to celebrate our 4th Annual Indigenous People’s Day. Join us in this multi-cultural tribute to the Native American presence (past, present, and future) in and around Shelburne and the Falls.
This date commemorates the passage of Proclamation 4468 which was signed into law by President Gerald Ford in 1976. The Proclamation made this week in October “American Indian Awareness Week” and is important as the first national recognition of the culture and history of Indigenous Peoples since the founding of the United States of America.
Please come and join us at 33 Severance St. in Shelburne Falls as we honor the tradition of indigenous communities coming together during the time of harvest. This event will be held rain or shine.
We would like to thank our sponsor this year, The Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association in Deerfield.
