Mayor Domenic J. Sarno will once again attend the Lighting of the Menorah in Court Square in downtown Springfield.

Hanukkah and the tradition of lighting a candle of the menorah each day during what is also called the Festival of Lights celebrates an ancient Jewish victory over the Seleucid Empire.

Hanukkah (or Chanukah) begins at sundown on Thursday, December 7, 2023, and ends the evening of Friday, December 15, 2023 (8 nights).
