The South Hadley fireworks are held annually at the Michael E. Smith Middle School located on 100 Mosier Street.

The 2024 fireworks will be held on July 3, 9:30pm with a rain date of July 5, 2024. People are encouraged to bring a blanket and/or chairs and plenty of bug spray!  Being on school grounds, alcohol and tobacco products are not allowed.

Parking:  please observe all parking notices throughout town.  You may have a bit of walk, as parking near the Middle School is limited.  There is some parking at the Mosier School, St. Theresa’s Church and the corner lot on Morgan St. at Rt. 116.  Handicap parking will be available at the Middle School.

Please note there is no parking allowed on Routes 116, 202 and 33 per State Law.  No parking on the following streets:  Mosier, Morgan, Brainerd, Pine, Parkview, W. Parkview, Richview, and Belmont.  No parking in prohibited zones, private property (without permission), within 20 feet of an intersection, within 5 feet of a driveway, on a tree belt, bicycle lane, sidewalk, and crosswalk.  Violators subject to parking tickets and/or tow.

The day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the 13 former British colonies on July 4, 1776.

Massachusetts became the first state to recognize the Fourth of July as a statewide holiday in 1781.
