The Fireworks at East Longmeadow are on July 3rd at 9:30pm at the East Longmeadow High School. Parking is expected to be limited and the public is encouraged to carpool or walk to the high school.
The East Longmeadow July 4th Parade is set to start at 10:00am on July 4th and begins at East Longmeadow High School, then moves onto Maple Street through the center onto North Main Street. It continues onto Mapleshade Avenue to Elm Street where it ends at Hanward Hill.
The Rotary Club annual carnival returns to Center field in town on June 30 and runs until July 4. On June 30, runs from 6 to 10 p.m., but on July 4 will be open noon to 4 pm. Ride tickets and wristbands will be available for purchase at the carnival.
The day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the 13 former British colonies on July 4, 1776.
Massachusetts became the first state to recognize the Fourth of July as a statewide holiday in 1781.
