We raft the Millers River on special dam releases and natural flows from the Spring thaw. Two Army Corp of Engineers flood control dams regulate flows year-round on the Millers, but we closely watch flows throughout April and try to raft there as many days as possible each spring before heading to the Deerfield River’s guaranteed flows from hydroelectric dams.
Early April flows yield non-stop Class II-III-IV action punctuated by “The Funnel” and “Tsunami” rapids. Later in April the Millers often runs for a Class II-III intermediate trip. The Millers River trip has action from beginning to end with long, continuous rapids and only short breaks as we float behind active and historic mill sites. This trip is tough to beat for continuous action!
After rafting, we return to Crab Apple for a hot meal – cookout style with hot dishes if it was a chilly day on the river such as soups, au gratin potatoes and hot chocolate to drink!
Raft Capacity: Our rafts hold 6-7 paddlers (6 is ideal). We have a few rafts that hold 8. Groups of 6, 7, or 8 will have a private raft. Groups with fewer than 6 may we joined by other parties.
Includes: Pre-trip safety instruction, professional guide, PFD and helmet, full wetsuit rental, transportation to and from river, hearty meal after rafting (chicken, fish or veggie w/homemade salads, dessert, drinks), photo presentation of your adventure
Schedule: Millers River trips run from April 13 thru the end of April depending on river flow. Special Class 3-4 dam release dates for 2024: April 13 and 14.
