The rules for COVID are primarily set at the state level by Massachusetts. The following are the main rules you need to know about:

  • Masks: In Massachusetts, masks or face coverings are required in all public places, both indoors and outdoors, for all people over the age of two. Social distancing is also recommended. However, you must wear a mask in public, even when you are able to distance yourself.
  • Limited Gatherings: If you are gathering indoors, the group must be no more than ten people. If gathering outdoors, the limit is 25 people.
  • Restaurants: Restaurants are allowed to serve food both indoors and outdoors. However, tables should not exceed six people, and guests are encouraged to only dine with members of their households. Any restaurant serving alcohol must also provide food service.

Out-of-state visitors may face some additional restrictions. These vary by state and from time-to-time. Check for the latest information.
